Bursa is a beautiful city, 155 km from Istanbul with a population of 2.8 million. It sits on a fertile plain under Uludag – “Great mountain” – which is 2532 metres high and boasts skiing from Dec to March. Bursa was one of the first capitals of the Ottoman empire and hosts the finest Ottoman relics. It is traditionally famous for its silk and textiles and you may visit the famous silk cocoon hall, built in 1451, still hosting today silk and brocade agents. Important industries have now established themselves in Bursa, an area of much investment. Buses leave every 30 minutes from Sabiha Gokcen Airport in Istanbul. Ferry links also operate from Istanbul to Bursa which take 90 minutes to sail cross the sea of Marmara.
